What I forgot to clarify in my last post is that your skin undertone has nothing got to do with the colour of your skin. You can have a dark/ light/medium skin and have any undertone (warm/cool/neutral).
Skin undertone wheel
Now that I know that I have a cool undertone, I have increasingly started gravitating towards cooler colors, especially blues and purples. Blue of course, has several popular shades (powder blue, teal, navy blue, midnight blue, sky blue, electric blue and so on).
If you open my wardrobe, you will feel that you are drowning in blue
To counter so much blue, I guess I need pink. Blue and Pink create a visually appealing contrast, although they are not diametrically opposite on the colour wheel.
A simple colour wheel
Pink, like any other colour, comes in a variety of shades (hot pink, magenta, coral pink etc.)
Some shades of pink
Contrary to a popular myth, peach is not a shade of pink but a shade of orange. Also, since warm colors are not for me, I think I can wear a lighter shade of a warm colour if I really need to (like if I really need to wear yellow, I should go for buttercup yellow rather than mustard). Oh, I have also discovered blurple (a mix of blue and purple). Among purple, I am increasingly gravitating towards Lavendar.
Neutral colors (black, white, grey and even brown up to some extent) are wonderful colors because they can go with a variety of skin colors, skin undertones and can be combined with several other colors beautifully. Beige and camel are colours I have just kind of discovered, I mean of course I had seen them earlier, but I did not know what they were called.
Did I ever mention I hate polka dots? HATE, HATE, HATE. My mother loves them, I understand they look very appealing in photographs, but I still don’t like them. Blech! I would go for big floral patterns any day.
While I am not particularly fond of earrings, I read somewhere that earrings also look very appealing in photographs because they draw attention right onto the face. Also, while pearls can be worn during any time (day or night), gems like emeralds, sapphires, rubies, etc. should be worn preferably during night.
Iam yet to form an opinion about metallics, hmmm……..
